Spay and Neutering

Surgery with the most benefits – including reducing your pet’s risk for certain health issues.

When you spay or neuter your pet, you help them live a longer, healthier life. It’s important to note the procedure does not change your pet’s personality. Spaying or neutering your loyal companion comes with a range of health benefits, including reducing overpopulation and preventing the spreading of harmful diseases. To learn more about our services, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 519-972-9000.

What is spaying/neutering?

Neutering is the surgical removal of a male’s testicles. While spaying is the removal of a female’s ovaries and uterus. Both procedures need to be performed under anesthesia, and we continually monitor your pet’s vital signs to ensure their comfort and safety. We recommend getting puppies and dogs spayed or neutered from 6 to 9-months-old. Kittens and cats can be spayed or neutered from as young as 4 to 6-months-old.

What are the advantages of spaying and neutering my pet?

By spaying or neutering your pet, you protect them against potentially deadly diseases. You also won’t have to worry about them going into heat. This means your pet is less likely to pace, spray or roam like they usually would during their heat cycle. The procedure also helps prevent overpopulation, keeping more animals out of shelters. Additional benefits include:

  • Reduced bacterial infections
  • Reduced reproductive tract diseases
  • Less likely to develop cancer
  • Reduced aggression, barking, and roaming
  • Longer lifespan
