Ultrasound and X-ray Services

Our diagnostic imaging services provide valuable insights into your pet's well-being.

We routinely turn to X-rays and ultrasounds to help identify what’s ailing your pet. As diagnostic tools, they can help us detect a number of health issues or complications. With our in-house radiology, we can provide your pet with a quicker, more accurate diagnosis. To learn more about our diagnostic tools, please don’t hesitate to call us at 519-972-9000.

What is an ultrasound?

Ultrasonography (also called ultrasound or sonography) is a non-invasive, pain-free procedure that uses sound waves to examine a pet’s internal organs and other structures inside the body. It can be used to evaluate your pet’s heart, kidneys, liver, gallbladder, and bladder. This diagnostic tool can help us detect fluid, cysts, tumours, abscesses, or pregnancies. We may use this imaging technique with radiography (X-rays) and other diagnostic methods to ensure a proper diagnosis.

What is an X-ray?

X-rays use electromagnetic radiation to produce a visual image of your pet’s organs, bones, or teeth. This can be an effective diagnostic tool to detect any tumours, fractures or swallowed items.

Are X-rays and ultrasounds safe for my pet?

Ultrasounds do not involve radiation and have no known side effects. Typically we won’t need to sedate your pet unless they are in pain or feeling anxious. We may also shave the hair in the area that’s being examined to obtain more accurate images. As non-invasive diagnostic tools, they are entirely safe and painless for your pet. Our digital technology also helps ensure that your pet is exposed to less radiation. Our top priority is ensuring your pet feels calm and comfortable throughout all the stages of the procedure.
