We’re here to help your puppy get started on the right path to a long and healthy life. The first few months are a critical period in your puppy’s development. The best way to keep your puppy or dog safe and healthy is to schedule their vaccinations regularly. Vaccines help protect your pet from contracting and spreading harmful diseases that could be fatal. To book your dog’s vaccination appointment, give us a call at 519-972-9000.
Why should I vaccinate my puppy/dog?
It’s important to schedule your puppy for their first exam as soon as possible. Until your puppy has received a series of vaccines, they are susceptible to many serious but preventable diseases. We also recommend staying up-to-date with your pet’s parasite prevention plan, as parasites are common in young dogs. Some diseases vaccines work to prevent include:
- Rabies
- Distemper
- Parvovirus
- Parainfluenza
- Bordetella (kennel cough)
What is the most common parasite my pet can get?
Most puppies have roundworms, which are intestinal worms that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and other gastrointestinal issues. That being said, some dogs can have worms without showing any symptoms. It is important for puppies to be treated for roundworms, not only to rid them of the infection but also to prevent you and the rest of your family from becoming infected. Roundworms can be transmitted from pets to people. Ensuring your puppy is treated can keep your entire family safe from these and other parasites.
